Sounds Of Summer - The Very Best Of The Beach Boys
By The Beach Boys

- I wish they all could be California girls

Oh man! I could not be happier about my post-school adventuring! I finished up my last final Wednesday night and here is what has happened since:

  • Drove my roomie to the airport at 9pm to leave for Jersey
  • Picked my roomie up from airport at 9:10pm bc her flight was not until Thursday
  • Wednesday at midnight we had the UCLA Undie Run. Always entertaining
  • Celebrated being done with finals and school for the summer
  • Thursday morning (5:30am) drive my roomie BACK to the airport to sit standby for the 7am flight
  • Relaxed, kicked back, caught up on missed sleep, rented movies, etc
  • Friday afternoon went to the eye doctor to have my eyes dilated
  • Went and got a pedicure, eyebrows waxed, etc...girly day for me
  • Rented another movie and chilled inside while there was a HUGE party in the courtyard of my complex
  • Side note: Someone, from the party I assume, was BANGING down my door and I thought it was my other roomie's-who just GRADUATED! YAY MELANIE!-brother so I just left it for her to get. They started BANGING again, so I got up and went to go check it out. By the time I got up, went to the front door, turned on the lights inside the apartment, and answered the door, they were gone. < shrug > whatever. About 5 minutes later I heard someone from the party yell out "I KNOW IT!" as I walked past the window. Urg? Whatever.
  • Saturday morning I woke up SUPER early to go to this event called "LF Warehouse sale" and BOY am I glad I did! I woke up at 6:08 am and was down there by 6:56am. The sale started at 7am and went until 3pm. What the sale is, is a high end boutique designer/distributor that has this HUGE sale once a year at their warehouse. I added everything up and I purchased $1472 worth of clothing for a mere $175!!!!!  Can you believe it!? I am SOOOOOO proud of myself. These are the types of clothes I would NEVER EVER buy because it is so VERY overpriced that I just admire and walk out. To give you an idea of what I am dealing with here, let me break it down for you. I bough 7 shirts, 3 pairs of jeans, 2 skirts, 1 denim jacket, 1 pair of dress shoes, and 1 sweatshirt. The jeans alone are $168 each and I bought them for $15 each! The denim jacket was $188 and I got it for $15! It was AMAZING and I am SOOOO going back next year. Weeee!
  • After shopping I went home and got ready  to go surfing. Went out to Venice Beach and surfed for about an hour and a half. While I was there, here are a couple of the conversations I had:
    • Guy #1: "MAN, you must be in good health!"
    • Guy #1: "There you are in your swim suit and I am wearing a wetsuit. It kind of makes me feel like a pussy."
    • Me: "haha, I thought about that when I got in. 'I am the ONLY one without a wetsuit.' I can handle it though!"
    • Guy #2: "Man, how do you do that? I cannot even get up"
    • Me: "I dunno. This is only my third time out, so I am still learning."
    • Guy #2: "Really? You look like a professional!"
    • Me: "hahaha. Thanks! < thinks to self, "nice try guy" >
  • Stayed at the beach for a little while enjoying the sun, then headed home
  • Showered REALLY quick then got back in the car to drive to Huntington Beach to meet my cousin, "Bobby the Greek"-or most people just know him as "The Greek". He has been in the surfing industry to like 30-40 years now. He makes custom boards, invented this thing called the Turbo Tunnel, which is a fin with a hole in it for your board, and has everything to do with anything surfing related. I went to his house so he could hook me up with a board. He loaned me a 9 foot Style Master with a Turbo Tunnel and Turbo Thrusters. I am SOO excited to try it out!

Needless to say, I am not having a bad start to a WONDERFUL summer! My boss is going on vacation for two and a half weeks in Europe so I do not have to work for a while, I have a board that I can surf with at any given time, the weather is great, I have no school responsibilites, and I have time for vacations!

Life is great! I really needed this!

Some lovin!

Striking a pose...before my hair changed

So Taryn can see a close up! haha

Wow... it has been WAY too long since I have updated. There have been so many occasions when I think to myself, "man I should put that on my xanga because it was hilarious" and then what do I do? I up and forget it, dang it!  So what can I think of that is going on right now? hmmm. Well school started back January 9th, 2006, and I started back at work the same time. As for this very moment I am sick, boo. I actually caved in and went to the doctor, told him I am not a fan of medicine and do not normally take it…so he gave me a prescription for amoxicillion.  I told him I would take it. He said he was not quite sure what I had, but that it may be a bacterial infection or strep. He told me if it was strep that the antibiotics would not do a THING for me. Gee, way to encourage me into taking meds.  Anyway, so I have been on the antibiotics for six days now and I hardly feel any better. So last night I decided to take a picture of my throat with my handy dandy, totally awesome new digital camera to see what was going on in there and why it hurt like a mo fo. I showed the picture to a friend of mine and he was utterly disgusted…so I will leave it to you imagination. Wait…your imagination may be a bit wild, so I will just say I did not find it THAT gross really, but it was red, a little swollen, and there were a couple patches (not funky colored patches or anything, just patches). So in order to “diagnose” myself I went online and search for images of strep, tonsillitis, bacterial infections, etc and let me tell you…I SURE AS HECK DO NOT HAVE STREP OR TONSILLITIS!  Oh HECK no! Those were nasty nasty!  Yuck! So anyway, I still do not know what I have. As for this amoxicillion… I stick to my stance in not taking medicine! Dang doctors! < shakes fist >

Competition season started again and it is so fun to watch gymnastics again. It makes me miss it more and more each time though. The girls are looking good though! They have had so many obstacles with injuries, surgeries, retirees, etc. I really do miss being in the gym, working so hard my body aches, competing, watching amazing gymnastics every day, getting all pumped up before competition, the team feeling, the close friendships, the family away from home. I really wish I was still doing it.

Anyway, this is enough updating for now. I will have to get back on track with xanga and keep it a little more up to date. Oh, I have also changed my appearance quite a bit too. Here are some pictures of the “new me”. Tell me what you think, HONESTLY. I can handle it. I am always changing something, so I am curious as to what you think.

Generic brand Dayquil, nightquil, worthless amoxicillion, and lots and lots of water
